Macro Social Workers Discuss the Rothman Commission

By Rachel L. West

Macro Social Workers participate in the first #MacroSW chat to discuss the Rothman Commission and how to advocate for community practice

The inaugural #MacroSW chat was held last night on Twitter and it was a wonderful and lively conversation. Most of the participant appeared to be social work students and recent grads. They discussed there concerns about finding a macro level job, how to get macro social work more respect within the profession, and why it is important for there to be a balance between micro and macro.

The chat was held as part of a new collaborative formed by ACOSA, NSWM, Social Work Helper, USC School of Social Work, UB School of Social Work, MSWSN, and Karen Zgoda.

You can read the transcript from the chat here.

The next #MacroSW chat will take place on March 27th at 9:00 PM EST.

In other chat news; the Social Work Helper weekly Twitter chat is coming up this Sunday at 3:00 Pm EST. They will be discussing social work and technology with special guest Lindsey Madison from Hiplogiciq. You can read the very interesting story of how Lindsey came to be a guest here on Social Work Helper Magazine.
