How Do We Actually Create Change?

by Rachel L. West, MSW, LMSW

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about Newark, NJ Mayor Cory Booker challenging a twitterer to a food stamp challenge. If you don’t recall the posts you can read them here and here. Noliwe M. Rooks has written an article for Time Magazine exploring whether or not such challenges will lead to any actually change in SNAP funding. Rooks is doubtful.

Rooks concern is legitimate. So how do we take the SNAP Challenge and make it into an actually campaign that will affect real change?
