By Rachel L. West

Disability Advocacy: What is the Role of Allies? will be the topic on Thursday nights #MacroSW Twitter Chat.

There is no denying the power online advocacy has played in ushering the disability rights movement into the 21st century.  Disabled advocates are able to discuss issues, policies, ableism, and combating multiple identities with members of the disabled community across the country and globe, as well as paint a more rightfully diverse and genuine images of the disabled experience.  Our chat will explore how the social work profession and social workers can become effective allies, and in what ways disabled advocates desire for us to work alongside them. The chat starts at 9:00 PM EDT/6:00 PM PDT. Dr. Casey Bohrman will be the guest expert. You can read the resources and questions over at the #MacroSW blog. This chat is part of MacroSW Media Night. Once a month #MacroSW Chats hosts a Media Night. Media Night features a video, podcast, blog post or article that focused on a hot topic. These chats are ideal for class assignment or extra credit opportunity.  For the chat schedule: https://macrosw.com/special-events/.
