Day of Action

Today I’m writing thank you letter to New York State Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer. What am I thanking them for? For strong opposing the appointment of white supremacist Steve Bannon. As of last week more than a 150 house members called for the President Elect to rescind the offer. Find out who they are here. As of this writing¬†my congressman has chosen to remain silent. In matters like this silence = endorsement. If he doesn’t stand up and say no to hate then I will be working very hard in 2018 to make sure he is not reelected.

If your member of congress appears on the list thank them. If not call and ask them to take a stand against hate. You can find their contact information on their website. All congressional members have one. When you call let them know you are a constituent (they will ask for your address to verify that). Calls rarely take more than 3 minutes.

I like to follow up my calls with letters. I also suggest sharing your action on social media. But, I understand that some of you may not be in the position to do so. Instead, I encourage you to talk with your family and friends and ask them to contact their congressperson and senator.
