Assessing The State Of America’s Mental Health System

by Rachel L. West, MSW, LMSW

There was a hearing today on the state of America’s mental health system that went before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.  You can watch a recording of the hearing here, on the committees website. You can also download a copy of the testimony from the same link.

On a side note, not one person on the panel is a social worker.  Bear in mind that in the United States social workers are the number one provider of mental health services. Yet not one social worker gave testimony before a Senate committee looking into the state of America’s mental health system.  Having said that, where was the National Association of Social Workers?
